What is professional LED light therapy?

Professional LED light therapy is a non-invasive treatment that uses controlled wavelengths of light to support your skin’s natural repair. At Skin and Beyond Spa in Gold Coast, Chicago, this is a standalone signature treatment: a focused 20-minute visit with a professional panel — not a home mask, not a gadget sold at checkout, and not a full cleanse-and-mask facial.

LED works at the surface and upper layers of the skin without needles, peels, or downtime. Different colors do different jobs. We choose red, blue, or a combination based on what your skin needs that day — calm redness, support collagen, or help breakout-prone areas look clearer. You lie comfortably while the light does the work; there is no scraping, suction, or injection.

This booking is listed in Vagaro as Professional LED Light treatment. It sits on our signature treatments menu alongside microcurrent, dermaplaning, and microchanneling. Flat price on the price list: $75 for 20 minutes.

Many facials on our facials menu can include LED as one step inside a longer visit. This page is for clients who want light therapy only — or who want to add a dedicated LED session between full facials.

Red light vs blue light — what we select in the room

Wavelength choice is customized; this is education, not a diagnosis.

Red LED is often chosen when the goal is a calmer, more even look — supporting collagen and elastin activity, softening the appearance of fine lines, and helping skin recover after stress or sun. Clients who feel constantly flushed or reactive sometimes like red for its soothing reputation.

Blue LED is commonly associated with breakout-prone skin because it targets surface bacteria that contribute to acne. It is not the same as our Photodynamic Acne Treatment, which is a separate medical-style protocol with different products and timing. For persistent inflammatory acne, we may point you to that service or to the Acne Under Control Facial instead of LED alone.

Who it’s for — and when to book something else

Book this LED session if you want a quick, no-downtime boost between facials; you are working on redness, dullness, or mild congestion; or you searched for an LED facial treatment near me and want a real esthetician with a professional panel, not a drugstore device.

Choose a full facial instead if you need extractions, long massage, layered masks, or a 75–90 minute correction plan. The Advanced Customized Facial may include LED as one modality among many. The Spotlight Facial is our luxury pre-event facial with exfoliation, massage, and LED built into a longer glow protocol.

Skip or ask first if you are pregnant, on photosensitizing medications, have an active rash or open wounds in the treatment area, or have a condition your physician treats with strict light restrictions. We will tell you honestly if another service fits better.

What happens during the 20 minutes

Typical flow for a standalone Professional LED Light treatment.

  1. Cleanse and prep. Skin is cleansed so light reaches the surface evenly. Eye protection is used as appropriate for the panel.
  2. Wavelength selection. Red, blue, or both — based on your goals and what we see that day (redness, breakouts, post-treatment calm).
  3. Timed LED exposure. You rest under the professional lamp for the booked session length. Most people feel warmth or nothing at all — not pain.
  4. Finish. Moisturizer and SPF guidance so you leave comfortable. Makeup is usually fine immediately after.

LED is often stacked with results from other work: after a peel or facial series, or between microcurrent visits. Tell us what you did recently so we can space treatments safely.

What to expect on your visit

Assessment

We ask about sensitivity, breakouts, recent peels or lasers, medications, and pregnancy. If LED is not appropriate, we say so before the lamp turns on.

Treatment

Twenty minutes at the table under the professional LED panel. This is a signature treatment slot — not an add-on sneaked into another service unless you booked that way in Vagaro.

Aftercare

Usually no social downtime. Use SPF daily. Skip aggressive scrubs or strong acids for a day if your skin feels reactive. Hydrate normally; no special recovery chair required.

Before you come

Arrive with clean skin if you can. Remove heavy makeup. Tell us about retinoids, AHAs, or recent professional exfoliation so we can adjust timing with your other appointments.

If you are comparing salon LED to a mask at home: professional panels are stronger, the placement is deliberate, and the session is chosen for your face that day — not a one-size routine from an app.

FAQ

How much does LED light therapy cost in Chicago?
$75 for a 20-minute Professional LED Light treatment at Skin and Beyond Spa, Gold Coast. Book the standalone service on Vagaro — see our signature prices.
How long is the appointment?
20 minutes of treatment time as listed for Professional LED Light treatment. Plan a few extra minutes for check-in and checkout.
Is this the same as LED inside a facial?
No. Many facials include LED as one step. This page is the dedicated signature treatment — light only. For a full facial with LED, see Spotlight or Advanced Customized.
LED vs Photodynamic Acne Treatment?
Photodynamic is a separate acne-focused protocol with different products and goals. LED here is a shorter, general light session for calm, clarity, and glow support — not a replacement for medical photodynamic care.
Is there downtime?
Usually none. Rarely a brief pink flush. You can return to work or dinner plans the same day.
How often should I book?
Some clients come weekly during a short series; others book monthly between facials. We suggest a rhythm after your first visit based on your skin response.
